1:5Heradversariesarethechief，herenemiesprosper;fortheLORDhathafflictedherforthemultitudeofhertransgressions:herchildrenaregoneintocaptivitybeforetheenemy.

1:6AndfromthedaughterofZionallherbeautyisdeparted:herprincesarebeelikehartsthatfindnopasture，andtheyaregonewithoutstrengthbeforethepursuer.

1:7Jerusalemrememberedinthedaysofherafflictionandofhermiseriesallherpleasantthingsthatshehadinthedaysofold，whenherpeoplefellintothehandoftheenemy，andnonedidhelpher:theadversariessawher，anddidmockathersabbaths.

1:12Isitnothingtoyou，allyethatpassby?behold，andseeiftherebeanysorrowlikeuntomysorrow，whichisdoneuntome，wherewiththeLORDhathafflictedmeinthedayofhisfierceanger.

1:20Behold，OLORD;forIamindistress:mybowelsaretroubled;mineheartisturnedwithinme;forIhavegrievouslyrebelled:abroadtheswordbereaveth，athomethereisasdeath.

1:21TheyhaveheardthatIsigh:thereisnonetofortme:allmineenemieshaveheardofmytrouble;theyaregladthatthouhastdoneit:thouwiltbringthedaythatthouhastcalled，andtheyshallbelikeuntome.

1:22Letalltheirwickednessebeforethee;anddountothem，asthouhastdoneuntomeforallmytransgressions:formysighsaremany，andmyheartisfaint.

2:1HowhaththeLORDcoveredthedaughterofZionwithacloudinhisanger，andcastdownfromheavenuntotheearththebeautyofIsrael，andrememberednothisfootstoolinthedayofhisanger!

2:2TheLORDhathswallowedupallthehabitationsofJacob，andhathnotpitied:hehaththrowndowninhiswraththestrongholdsofthedaughterofJudah;hehathbroughtthemdowntotheground:hehathpollutedthekingdomandtheprincesthereof.

2:7TheLORDhathcastoffhisaltar，hehathabhorredhissanctuary，hehathgivenupintothehandoftheenemythewallsofherpalaces;theyhavemadeanoiseinthehouseoftheLORD，asinthedayofasolemnfeast.

2:8TheLORDhathpurposedtodestroythewallofthedaughterofZion:hehathstretchedoutaline，hehathnotwithdrawnhishandfromdestroying:thereforehemadetherampartandthewalltolament;theylanguishedtogether.

2:9Hergatesaresunkintotheground;hehathdestroyedandbrokenherbars:herkingandherprincesareamongtheGentiles:thelawisnomore;herprophetsalsofindnovisionfromtheLORD.

2:10TheeldersofthedaughterofZionsitupontheground，andkeepsilence:theyhavecastupdustupontheirheads;theyhavegirdedthemselveswithsackcloth:thevirginsofJerusalemhangdowntheirheadstotheground.

2:11Mineeyesdofailwithtears，mybowelsaretroubled，myliverispouredupontheearth，forthedestructionofthedaughterofmypeople;becausethechildrenandthesucklingsswooninthestreetsofthecity.

2:12Theysaytotheirmothers，Whereiscornandwine?whentheyswoonedasthewoundedinthestreetsofthecity，whentheirsoulwaspouredoutintotheirmothersboso

2:13WhatthingshallItaketowitnessforthee?whatthingshallIlikentothee，OdaughterofJerusalem?whatshallIequaltothee，thatImayfortthee，OvirgindaughterofZion?forthybreachisgreatlikethesea:whocanhealthee?

2:14Thyprophetshaveseenvainandfoolishthingsforthee:andtheyhavenotdiscoveredthineiniquity，toturnawaythycaptivity;buthaveseenfortheefalseburdensandcausesofbanishment.
